Mission Statement::
Teaching and inspiring pupils for a life of fulfilment and achievement of purpose.
Ethos Statement:
Heritage of Glory International School has a distinctive Christian ethos which gives the school it's Purpose and provides an inclusive environment where children can learn and flourish in a setting shaped by Christian values. We welcome applications from all parts of the world and we ask all parents to respect the Christian ethos of the school.
A School with a Purpose:
The challenge for a learning institution is to provide an education which is broad, balanced, relevant and accessible to all. What we offer is a combination of high academic standards, broad extra-curricular opportunities and strong pastoral care in a closely-knit community. From a Christian perspective, there is so much for human beings to learn about ourselves as created in God's image; about the world in which we live and our purpose in being here; and about our relationships with other people and how we handle the differences between us.
The Fulfilment of All Children:
The school will take pride in what our children achieve and help them to recognize the importance of quality. It will endeavor to give all it's community members a sense of self-worth and lead them to experience success l.
The school will always strive for excellence, achievement and success. It will ensure that all children have access to a curriculum which inspires, stimulates and develops an open minded view of the world, without derailing from it's foundational Christian ethos and Godly precepts.
A Community of Mutual Respect and Tolerance:
The school will develop a friendly and supportive atmosphere which I embraces all stake holders.
The school will endeavor to recognise that the commitment and quality of the whole staff make a difference and strive to maximize the effectiveness of the school's specialism in ICT, the extended school community and all human resources.
An International Standard Status:
The school will develop to be a world class International Nursery and Primary School, providing a high quality integrated early childhood education and childcare services for all who need it.
Co-Parenting:
We build positive relationship with parents in order to work effectively with them and their children. The school is open and receptive to children from all racial, cultural and religious backgrounds.
However, our spiritual platform in Heritage of Glory is strictly Christian.
Our Educators:
We have Teachers and Practitioners who are enthusiastic, committed, reflective with a breadth and depth of knowledge, skills and understanding. These effective staff, all of whom are graduates, use their own learning and training to improve their work with the young children and their families, in ways that are sensitive, positive and non-judgmental
Behaviour statement.:
At Heritage of Glory International School, we believe that all children and adults in our school and community are important. Everyone has the right to feel happy, safe, and secure. We are committed to enabling all our pupils to access their education successfully. Positive behaviour is a pre-requisite for our educational objectives.
Therefore we believe that;
• Developing the whole child enables them to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
• Providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere helps children feel secure and develop the skills, which enable them to make the right choices.
• Our policies and practices will allow children to work and participate to their full potential.
• Children need to know when they have been successful.
• Improved self-esteem leads to improved behaviour.
• Praise and positive reinforcement is more effective than punishment.
• Good behaviour should be held in high esteem by all members of staff and overtly and consistently rewarded and promoted at all times.
• Effective links and cooperation between home and a school are essential to success.
• Consistency is the key to success. The positive behaviour management and assertive discipline policy of the school depends upon all staff, pupils and parents; endeavouring to achieve these aims by understanding and being able to implement its procedures
Our School Rules:
• Work hard
• Be kind and be helpful
• Mutual respect
• Be honest
• Listen
• Be gentle
• Look after property
• Look out for one another
Extra – Curricular Clubs:
We run a variety of extra-curricular clubs during lunchtime and after school for children in years 1-6. The choice of the club changes termly and pupils have the opportunity to sign up to a new club at the start of each term. We aim to provide a range of clubs that will appeal to different children so that every child can find a club that interests them. Examples of the clubs include: Gymnastics, Football clubs for all ages, basketball for all ages, Lego and ICT club, quiz, literacy, debate club, monopoly, draft, traditional ayo, choir and book club.
In order to provide the children with opportunities to compete and make friends, the school will be organising inter-school competitions, in cooperation with other schools in the area
We will also seek to work with external organizations in order to provide a wider variety of extra-curricular activities.
